All Creatures Great and Sussex Workshop with Kevin Newman: For ages 5-15 years old

14 September | Doors Open: 10:30 | Start: 11:00 | Animal design & make: 11.45-12.15

Explore an unusual take on the animals, creatures and wildlife that have featured in our county’s history with local author and teacher Kevin Newman.

Kevin Newman is Sussex's most prolific local historian, and author of the bestselling 2023 book, The Little History of Sussex, now in its second edition. Kevin has written over 15 books published on Sussex by a range of publishers, along with regularly contributing numerous columns in local magazines such as Sussex Living and Sussex and Surrey Pages.  He now writes novels when not a history teacher and Assistant Headteacher at a small Sussex school.

On July 23rd, Kevin takes us on a journey of exploration of our county's past furry, feathered and four-legged friends in a lively, funny and interactive workshop. We will investigate not only how animals have fed and fought us, but saved and even strangled one of us, where Sussex takes its names from them, inspiration from them, and most importantly where we have laughed and learnt with them.  Can you spot 'animal faces in food'?  Can you survive witnessing Sussex's scariest ever creatures?!  Come and find out at Leonardslee this summer!

£12.50 per child (Aged 5-15) | 10% off for members

Children must be accompanied by an adult, who will need a Leonardslee membership or Garden Entry | Accompanying adults/carers also receive 50% off garden entry when pre-booked, making it a great day out for you and your children to enjoy to the full!
