Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens features a range of locations where you can enjoy a selection of food and refreshments during opening times throughout the year.

Please note: Sorry, no cash accepted. For security reasons, Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens is a cash-free zone. We only accept payment by card.

We have an outlet at reception that can accept cash and you will be given a card that can be used throughout Leonardslee. Simply return your card at the end of the day to receive a cash refund of any remaining money.

No dogs are allowed inside Leonardslee House or the cafeterias.

Restaurant Interlude

Restaurant Interlude at Leonardslee House, 1 star in the MICHELIN Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2020. A contemporary fine dining experience, taking you through a 14 or 19-course tasting menu that changes with the seasons. Inspired by Leonardslee Estate, the dishes are created using foraged ingredients from our gardens and the finest locally sourced produce.

Afternoon Tea at Leonardslee House

Afternoon Tea at MICHELIN starred Restaurant Interlude, Leonardslee House.

Afternoon tea is, without a doubt, the most delicious English tradition. Every visitor to our beautiful Leonardslee House should expect to enjoy the very finest food, spectacular views, and the ultimate tea experience.

We can cater for specific dietary requirements with 48 hours’ notice.

Clocktower Café & Farm Shop

Located at the top of the gardens, close to Leonardslee House, the Clocktower Café opens at 10 am and offers a wide range of self-service refreshments. This includes a selection of hot and cold beverages, light lunches, cakes, and pastries. The farm shop features local produce from the estate and selected suppliers. There are breads, meats, cheeses, and condiments from which to choose, so you can create a delicious picnic to enjoy within the grounds of the estate.

Courtyard Café

The self-service Courtyard Café offers a range of snacks - including sandwiches, hot and cold drinks as well as a selection of cakes and pastries. It's the perfect place for some light refreshments before you are transported back in time at the ‘Beyond the Doll’s House’ exhibition, located next door. During the summer months, the Courtyard Bar is also open, so that you can enjoy a refreshing glass of wine after your adventures in the gardens.

Tea Tastings

We invite you to a tea tasting experience, enjoy a tasting of four teas from our tea menu. Tea Tastings at Leonardslee House are hosted every Wednesday; they can be hosted for individuals, small or large groups. A tea connoisseur will be on hand to guide you through the various infusions and taste sensations. Just let us know which teas you love.

*Please note that the Tea Tastings are weather permitting and will be hosted in our open-air courtyard.

Picnics Sussex Leonardslee


There is no shortage of magnificent places to picnic in the picturesque Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens. Unwrap lovingly packed nibbles as you stretch out under a tree surrounded by friends and family. Picnic baskets may be purchased from the Clocktower Café where you can pack your own with farmhouse cheeses, pasture-reared cold cuts, pates and chutneys, fresh bread & salads and delicious home-baked treats.

  • Wines and beverages can be purchased separately. Select food items of choice & pay for the food selected.

  • Deposit is required for the basket.

  • No outside food or drink is allowed.
