Shaping the Future of Leonardslee for Members, Visitors, and the Community
We have submitted an exciting planning proposal to Horsham District Council that outlines a bold vision for the historic estate’s future. The plans reflect the estate’s continued commitment to conservation, heritage, and creating exceptional visitor experiences. They focus on enhancing accessibility, restoring key historic features, and expanding opportunities for events and community engagement.
The proposal outlines several thoughtful enhancements across the estate:
A new extension to the main ticket entrance to improve access and visitor flow.
A reconfigured Leonardslee House forecourt, with reduced car parking and enhanced landscaping to lessen visual impact.
Refurbishment of the Stable Block, including an improved Clocktower Kitchen with a new winter garden extension, and outdoor terrace.
Restoration and redevelopment of several historic buildings, including the Former Generator Block and the Red House.
Extension of the Engine House Café, adding a new accessible WC and increased outdoor seating.
The introduction of a lightweight, beautifully designed wedding pavilion bandstand within the gardens.
“We are excited to share this new chapter in Leonardslee’s story,” said Adam Streeter, Managing Director at Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens. “These proposed improvements are rooted in our desire to preserve the unique character of the estate while making it more accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. From hosting community events to enhancing garden experiences, this vision is about enriching every visit.”
The proposed improvements are the result of careful planning, shaped by community feedback and Leonardslee’s long-standing commitment to conservation and cultural heritage. They aim to make the estate more inclusive and enjoyable for all, while supporting its role as a destination for world-class gardens, seasonal events, weddings, and more.
