Traditional Indian Block Printing
17 May | 10:00 – 14:00
Learn the age old process of block printing with Jenney Kelly in The Studio here at Leonardslee. Using traditional wooden printing blocks, you will immerse yourself in a creative and fun few hours, experimenting with pattern and colour.
Following a demonstration, you will have plenty of time to practice, first on paper and then cotton calico, which can then be used for other craft projects or wrapping paper.
Choose from an extensive selection of printing blocks, to print a set of 4 napkins or 2 tea towels, along with 6 notecards and a little pouch to store them in. If there is time, there will also be an opportunity to print some additional items. These would be at an additional cost on the day.
This workshop is suitable for all levels with no previous experience necessary. See what you need to bring below.
£70 per person | 10% off for Leonardslee Members

Testimonial
"Thank you very much for a fabulous workshop at Leonardslee last Sunday. It was a really enjoyable morning, my sister and I both felt totally absorbed in the printing process. What a fabulous way to spend a day. The venue was excellent, spacious and comfortable.
I felt very relaxed and free to experiment under your gentle guidance and would love to have another go to try out different combinations of pattern and colour.
It was obvious how much work you had done to set the workshop up, making it easy for everyone to participate throughout the session. Thank you. Hope to work with you again." - Sue (Joined 18 Feb)
Please Note
Please wear suitable clothing & bring an apron, as we will be working with paints! All materials are supplied. The napkins and tea towels have been pre-prepared for printing. Information regarding 'fixing' your prints at home will be provided on the day.
If you have any of your own wooden printing blocks, then please bring them along.
About Jenney Kelly
Several years ago I rekindled my love of textiles and started making a range of bags from up-cycled textiles and Liberty velvets. This evolved into hand block printing my own fabrics, designing blocks, which then took me on a voyage to Jaipur, India, to learn first hand from the masters of this wonderful therapeutic craft.
I am a member of the Heritage Crafts Association and have featured in Country Living and Prima Magazines for my block printing, bags and voluntary textile restoration work for a heritage railway.
