Christmas Block Printing: Festive Napkins & Cards

19 December | 10:00 - 14:00

Learn the age old process of block printing used for printing patterns onto paper or textiles using hand carved wooden blocks with Jenney Kelly in The Studio here at Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens. Using traditional Indian hand carved wooden printing blocks, you will immerse yourself into a creative and fun few hours, experimenting with a variety printing blocks and colours.

Following a demonstration, you will have plenty of time to practice, first on paper and then calico (a type of cotton), which can then be used for other craft projects or gift wrapping.

Using a selection of Christmas themed printing blocks, you can choose to print a set of 4 napkins or tea towels, along with 6 notecards and a little pouch to store them in.

If there is time, there will also be an opportunity to print some other small items. These would be at an additional cost on the day.

This workshop is suitable for all levels with no previous experience necessary.

£70 per person | 10% off for Leonardslee Members

Garden entry included | All materials are supplied | Tea, coffee, mulled wine and mince pies provided throughout the workshop | Free parking for members | Parking information

About Jenney Kelly

Several years ago I rekindled my love of textiles and started making a range of bags from up-cycled textiles and Liberty velvets. This evolved into hand block printing my own fabrics, designing blocks, which then took me on a voyage to Jaipur, India, to learn first hand from the masters of this wonderful therapeutic craft.

I am a member of the Heritage Crafts Association and have featured in Country Living and Prima Magazines for my block printing, bags and voluntary textile restoration work for a heritage railway.
