About Dr Susan Michaelis
Former airline pilot Dr Susan Michaelis lived in Horsham and was the founder of the Lobular Moon Shot Project, the most politically supported campaign in the UK. 391 MPs backed her call on the Government to fund a £20 million, five-year research project into lobular breast cancer.
She was the first Australian to ever receive a British Citizen Award. Susan passed away on 9 July 2025 from lobular breast cancer.
Susan and her husband later founded the Loraine Michaelis Foundation to advance public education on exposures to harmful and/or hazardous chemicals, particles, or radiation in the environment or workplace—particularly in connection to cancers such as lobular breast cancer and other work-related cancers.
This event marks the first official public occasion for the Foundation.
