Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens Celebrates Double Gold South East In Bloom Awards
Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens has received two Gold Awards at the 2026 South & South East In Bloom awards, held at RHS Wisley on Friday 25 September.
Head Gardener Jamie Harris attended the ceremony, where the gardens were recognised with Gold in the Heritage Park and Garden category and Gold and Best in Category in the Environmental Challenge.
The Heritage Park and Garden award followed a visit from a Britain in Bloom judge on 12 June, who toured the gardens with Jamie. The assessment considered everything from planting, pathways and visitor facilities to environmental practices, recycling and community involvement.
Having achieved Gold in its first year of entering in 2025, Leonardslee is proud to have maintained this standard for a second consecutive year. Gold is the highest award level, recognising exceptional standards across horticulture, environmental responsibility and community participation.
The Environmental Challenge award recognised the estate’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. Evidence submitted by Jamie highlighted initiatives including rainwater and borehole irrigation, composting green waste, creating wildlife habitats, solar panels, peat-free growing media and the reuse and recycling of garden materials.
Head Gardener Jamie Harris said: “We are delighted to be given both of these awards this year. Not only are they a testament to the hard work that our staff and volunteers put into the garden across the year, but also an acknowledgement of the green initiatives that we are proud to strive towards here too.”
The awards celebrate the dedication of the Leonardslee team and volunteers in caring for the gardens while continuing to protect and enhance the estate’s natural environment.
