Travel Trade

One estate. One contract. Twenty minutes from Gatwick.

A 240 acre Grade I listed garden in West Sussex, and also a MICHELIN Star restaurant, a MICHELIN Key hotel, a working English sparkling wine estate and a golf course. Two sites, two miles apart. All of it belongs to one owner and all of it sits on one rate sheet.

What you are actually buying

A full day and a night, from one supplier

For an operator building a Southern England programme, this removes three suppliers and three sets of timings from a single day. One invoice, one point of contact, one set of confirmations.

  1. 1

    10.30

    Arrive at the gardens

Meet and greet at the entrance, free coach parking. Guided walk with a member of the garden team, then time among the rhododendrons, the lakes, the wallabies and deer, the Dolls House Museum and the sculpture park.

  2. 2

    13.00

    Lunch on the estate

From a tea and coffee stop to a sit-down afternoon tea, or lunch at Restaurant Interlude on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Menus quoted against your group size and timing.

  3. 3

    14.30

Walk the vines, ride them, or seat the whole coach

On the walking tour the Brut Reserve, Classic Cuvée and Brut Rosé are poured among the vines as you go, finishing seated with the Blanc de Blancs. That tour takes a maximum of 16. At Leonardslee Wine Estate, two miles away, the Tasting Room seats up to 100, runs vineyard tours by golf buggy, and teaches the old art of sabrage. Our winemaker is Johann Fourie.

  4. 4

    19.00

    Dinner at Restaurant Interlude

Holder of a MICHELIN Star and a MICHELIN Green Star, in Leonardslee House on the same site. Dinner Thursday to Sunday. Contracted partners hold table allocations on named dates.

  5. 5

    Overnight

    Stay on the estate

Ten bedrooms at Leonardslee House, awarded a MICHELIN Key. Nine further bedrooms at Leonardslee Wine Estate, two miles away, plus Fullers Cottage. Breakfast at Clocktower Restaurant, or at the Vineyard Kitchen for guests staying at the Wine Estate.

Nothing else in Sussex puts a Grade I listed garden, a MICHELIN Star restaurant, MICHELIN Key rooms and an English sparkling wine estate on a single contractable rate sheet. Twenty minutes from Gatwick, it also works as a first morning or a final afternoon without adding a transfer.

The estate

Two sites, two miles apart

Both are ours and both are on the same rate sheet, which is what lets a mixed group split for the afternoon and come back together for dinner.

Site one

Leonardslee House and the Gardens

  • 240 acres of Grade I listed garden dating from 1801, lakes, wallabies and deer, the Dolls House Museum and the sculpture park. Reopened in 2019 after the largest garden restoration in Europe since the Lost Gardens of Heligan
  • Restaurant Interlude, MICHELIN Star and MICHELIN Green Star
  • Ten bedrooms at Leonardslee House, awarded a MICHELIN Key
  • The Drawing Room, an exclusive wine experience for up to 16, and private dining by Restaurant Interlude
  • Clocktower Restaurant for breakfast
  • The walking wine tour, maximum 16

Site two

Leonardslee Wine Estate

  • The Tasting Room, seated tastings for up to 100
  • Vineyard tours by golf buggy, and sabrage
  • The Vineyard Kitchen, and breakfast for guests staying here
  • Nine bedrooms, plus Fullers Cottage
  • Manning’s Heath Golf, on the same land and in the same ownership, for groups, societies and corporate parties
  • 500 acres, with vines at this site and at the gardens

Mannings Heath Golf keeps its own name and sits on the same land as Leonardslee Wine Estate, under the same ownership and on the same rate sheet. That is the one most operators do not expect. A party can split for the afternoon, half playing golf and half in the gardens, and meet again for dinner. Mixed-interest groups are among the hardest things an operator has to solve, and this solves one on a single contract.

How we work with the trade

Plainly, so you can price it

Group rates are net

The published group rate is the net rate and no commission sits on top, which is the standard across UK gardens and attractions.

Two guests is a booking

Most of what we are asked for is not a coach. FIT bookings are handled on the same account, by email, and confirmed within one working day.

Rooms carry a net rate

Confidential, static and guaranteed for the contracted period. Request the rate sheet and we will send it with a contracting form.

Come and see it

Familiarisation visits run through the year, and are complimentary for group organisers planning a visit. Overnight visits for contracted operators, subject to availability.

The restaurant carries none

What contracted partners receive instead is a held table allocation on named dates, which on a Michelin Starred restaurant is worth more than a percentage.

Programming

Three seasons, not one famous fortnight

The rhododendrons are what most people have heard of. They are not the only reason to put us in a programme, and two of the other three are easier to sell.

Mid-April to late May

Rhododendrons and azaleas

World class, and the reason the garden is Grade I listed. A fortnight of it overlaps the Chelsea week, so it works best as a stop on an existing May itinerary rather than a season of its own.

October

Autumn colour

As good as the spring through the woodland valley, considerably quieter, and it lands in the North American autumn travel season. The easiest month of the year to programme well.

27 Nov to 30 Dec

Leonardslee Lights

An illuminated trail through the gardens, already group priced from 15 guests with a dinner package. One of the simplest things in UK group travel to sell into a December programme.

Year round

The part that is never out of season

The wallabies, the deer, the lakes and a MICHELIN Star restaurant on site are not seasonal. A garden with a Star attached is a lunch stop twelve months a year, and lunch is what makes a coach itinerary work.

Next step

Request the rate sheet

Our net rates are confidential and are not published. Email us and we will send the current rate sheet with a contracting form and our terms, normally within one working day.

Tell us

  • Your company, trading address and the markets you sell into

  • Whether you are contracting groups, FIT or both

  • Roughly what volume you expect in the UK

  • Two trade references, if you would like an account opened at the same time

  • Preferred dates, if you would like a familiarisation visit first

Most operators come and see the estate before they contract it. It is the quickest way to understand what is here.
