For up to date advice, please speak to our staff at reception or call us on Tel: 0871 8733 389

The property has spaces designated for disabled parking. Reception counters are lowered to meet the needs of visitors using wheelchairs.

Please note: our Accessibility Guidance is in development because of ongoing development work on site. This is a temporary guide, which is subject to further information updates.

  • Leonardslee Gardens is made up of over 240 acres of English woodland gardens and consists of lakes, woodland areas, and the famous Rock Garden.

  • The areas located around the visitor centre have good access from the car park and around the reception, gift shop, plant sales, and toilets. After passing through reception, use the exit to the right-hand side to find a flatter route that leads down to the Rock Garden, Mansion House, Dolls House Exhibition and cafés.

  • Access to the garden is by way of a large staircase near the main house or via a pathway next to the Red House.

  • Many of our pathways throughout the gardens are flat but fall away steeply in places. Many are uneven. The lower half of the gardens should be avoided by wheelchair users and those with restricted mobility or limited fitness.

  • The return journey is uphill, and although there are benches throughout the estate, it requires a good level of fitness and mobility to walk back to the reception centre and car park.

  • Electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters should be used with extreme caution as there are uneven surfaces and steep slopes throughout the gardens. We do not recommend taking any type of wheelchair into the lower parts of the gardens as the paths can be steep in places.

  • The Mansion House, Cafés, Dolls House Exhibition, Rock Garden, Wallabies, and Chickens are all accessible by tarmac roads and paths.

  • Disabled toilets are located at the visitor entrance “Crystal Palace” and the Clocktower Café.

Please note: Our Rock Garden is currently closed, we are restoring the water feature and carrying out conservation work on our plant collections.

We apologise for any inconvenience and will be back up and running soon.

Leonardslee House

  • Leonardslee House is home to Restaurant Interlude, our Afternoon Tea and the wine tasting room. These facilities are all located on the ground floor, which is fully accessible and poses no restrictions on persons with limited mobility. A unisex disabled toilet is also available.

  • Parking outside of Leonardslee House is only available in the evening.

  • There is a large veranda that is flat and accessible.

  • Conference space - conference space for Leonardslee House is located on the 1st floor of Leonardslee House, where there is a large staircase that needs to be navigated without an elevator. This could be difficult for those with limited mobility.

  • Please refer to our accessibility map and note that the gardens are still under renovation; as a result, we will update our maps and releases as we gradually improve the garden. We welcome your feedback after your visit as it is only by listening to your comments that we can improve our offering and services.

  • Golf carts - we aim to assist you in any way that we can and would like for you to have an enjoyable day out with us. Please note that we offer golf cart transfers and you are welcome to flag down a marshall who can assist you with a lift from the car park area as required.

  • Manual wheelchairs are available for hire on a first come, first serve basis.
