Discover some of the hidden secrets of perfumery and take home a bottle of fragrance created by you from a range of beautiful ingredients, all provided as part of this fascinating, half-day workshop with Jonathan Gilhooly.
 
Explore the captivating world of scent in this creative, hands-on, fun and informative workshop. You will be introduced to a variety of olfactory materials (essential oils and other fragrance components) - including some special ‘secret’ ingredients which have the ability to magically transform simple blends into perfume. You will also get to know about fragrance ‘families’ and how to recognise them, and have access to a range of perfumery ingredients, before creating your own signature scent.

Eternal Rose: Introduction to the Art of Perfumery 

13 March | 10:30 – 13:30  

Enter the fascinating world of scent, where we will explore the multi-faceted Rose, a fragrant flower that resides at the heart of perfumery. Take home a bottle of fragrance created by you from an array of stunning ingredients, all provided as part of this half-day workshop.

We will explore the various characteristics of the Rose’s enigmatic fragrance, from fresh, citrus and sweet, to fruity, spicy and dark.

You will have access to a specially selected range of materials (essential oils, etc), including some special ingredients that have the ability to ‘magically’ transform simple blends into perfume. You will be guided and supported throughout by an experienced perfume practitioner in creating your own signature Rose fragrance.

All equipment and materials are provided. No previous knowledge or experience is necessary.

About Jonathan Gilhooly  

Jonathan Gilhooly is an artist, perfumer and teacher based in Sussex. He founded Olfactory in 2019 and since then has organised successful perfume creation workshops and classes at a number of venues in the south-east. The fragrance Odd1, created by Jonathan for Odd Janko, was released in 2024.
