Day Trips to Leonardslee in Autumn
As the summer draws to a close, Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens takes on a whole new guise. In Autumn, the trees at Leonardslee create beautiful displays, their leaves turning into a myriad of colours, which create incredible reflections in the lakes around the garden. Hundreds of varieties of trees can be found throughout Leonardslee and their bark looks stunning in this season, contrasted against the backdrop of changing colours.
The autumn highlight for our Head Gardener, is the great many different types of Conifers around the garden. He says; “As the frosts of early morning come, the Conifers look brighter and give the appearance of being burnt and stand out among the deciduous trees more so.”
Throughout the autumn months of September, October and November, many of the woodland fungi have fruiting bodies visible on trees and in the leaf litter - ideal for aspiring mushroom hunters and foragers, like the chefs from our own Restaurant Interlude.
